Neck Pain
When it comes to neck pain we often blame it on that one quick head turn to check our blind spot or sleeping incorrectly on the pillow one night, but the truth is is that rarely it is one event that causes neck pain. It's an accumulation of many - forgive the analogy - pieces of straw that broke the camel's back. It's the the endless hours we spend looking down at our phone, missing stretch breaks while working long hours at the computer to nights and nights of sleeping on a poor pillow that contribute to our neck problem. Our necks adapt, change their posture and position, turn on muscles, tighten muscles and relaxes muscles as it protects us from pain. This works great, well until it doesn't.
Some of the causes of neck pain include:
-
Trauma, such as falls, car accidents and whiplash
-
Sleeping position
-
Poor posture
-
Repetitive stress or sustained postures
-
Abnormalities in the bone structure
-
Joint issues
-
Degeneration and arthritis
-
Muscle strain
